Education and Lecture programme

Many of our staff have experience in giving talks and presentations to various groups. We are always open to suggestions if your school/WI/ bird club/etc would like an entertaining speaker! We are also experienced at providing Key Stage support for schools in many areas of the curriculum.  As a rough idea of what we've done recently:

  • A Day In The Life (Vet/Vet Nurse/Zoo Vet/Wildlife Vet)
  • Careers With Animals (Usually age 14 +)
  • British Wildlife On Your Doorstep
  • Sea Mammals
  • First Aid For Your Dog/Cat
  • Caring For Your Elderly Pet
  • Reptile Husbandry
  • Safe Hibernation of Tortoises
  • Herd Health/Backyard Farming

As a training practice, we are committed to education and this can start at an early age. Our staff have visited schools and youth groups to talk to young people with a variety of displays - with or without some of our patients!  Pupils from Year 10 and above are also welcome to apply for Work Experience placements - the application form can be downloaded from the Staff section of this site and should be returned to the Head Nurse.

We've also provided staff and support for nurseries setting up veterinary clinics in their story corner, and scout/brownie groups doing their animal care badges!  Please contact the surgery to discuss any requirements.
