Home Visits

At Burnham House Vets we are always happy to offer home visits to our clients who are less able to come to us or for patients who are nervous travellers and will find a home visit much more relaxing.

Examples of procedures which can be performed on a visit are: Health checks, dental checks, blood pressure checks, claw clip, anal gland empty, vaccination, micro-chipping, bloods etc. We can also provide home visits for 'last appointments' - for more information please see our 'Last Appointments' page (link below).

From time to time clients ask us to visit because their pet is hard to control or aggressive. Please be aware that at the surgery vets can call on the help of a nurse to assist procedures to run smoothly. It is also possible to arrange an appointment at the surgery when the reception area will be empty if your dog may view a chihuahua as a light snack! Tell our receptionists your concerns and we will always work with you to keep consultations as relaxed as possible.

Occasionally more involved procedures may not be able to be completed in the home. In this instance where possible we will ask you to bring your pet to the clinic, or we may be able to assist in transporting your pet if this is difficult for you. We have a veterinary ambulance which can be used for transporting animals.

Routine visits can be booked Monday-Friday, often for a visit the same day. Our vets normally complete visits between 11am and 4pm, but will endeavour to arrange a time that suits you. Non-routine visits are available 24 hours a day, but may be subject to higher costs.

To book a home visit, please call our reception on 01304 206 989. Our receptionists will take relevant information from you and advise you of costs and when the vet will likely be able to come to you. Prior to leaving the vet will phone to confirm their arrival time with you, normally 20-30 minutes ahead.

There is a fee for home visiting which may vary depending on how far we are travelling to you. Please ask our receptionists for the visit charge to your address.
